Happy New Year to all!!! We are back after the little Christmas break to welcome you here in this lovely little spot in County Clare. And what is nicer on a cold frosty morning than a yummy warm scone fresh from the oven and a hot soup to warm you up after a stroll in the gardens? Maybe the sunshine and the promise of spring that you can feel when you are walking along the north wall in the garden. Please note that there is a slight change in the opening hours. We are open Mon - Fri from 10am - 4pm until April and are looking forward to welcome you, your friends and family.

Summer is here and we hope that you all come visiting us. A living willow tunnel-structure and a little sand box now add a new attraction for our younger visitors. There is a special patio next to the kids area for the supervising adults. A small sand bucket with toys can be hired out for a deposit which will be refunded after the complete return of the toys.

April 2009

Believe it or not. More changes have been made in the Courtyard. You will now be able to do a full walk on a crazy paved path. A lot has changed around the courtyard this year. It now leads from the Centre towards the Entrance of the walled garden, along the old stable building, then over to our collection of old farm machinery and plant sale area and back to the visitor centre. Look out for the two lovely celtic style ornaments that have been included in the paving.

Passing the old stable you will find two new features: A seat, where another door would have lead into the building and a water feature. Both are made with the few parts of the stomes we have been left with from Kilrush House. While digging out the base for the water feature, we found the old cobble stones with which the courtyard once had been covered.

Apart from enjoying the tranquillity of the garden and the lovely homemade food in the coffee shop you have a new reason now to visit us.

Some new features are still in progress and will grow with time.

Happy New Year and may it be a good one for everybody!

The daffodils are already in competition to be out blooming first. Just like mother nature is telling us that not all is bad in this world.

We are not getting tired to improve your experience of visiting us. The Garden Team is creating another path which will lead from the centre and coffee shop to the farm machinery. So all who are coming along whith wheelchairs have better access to see them as well.

October 2008

Please note that we are back on winter opening times

September 2008

More seating has been provided around trees and on the little flower border wall in the courtyard for you to sit, relax and catch some sunny spells which have finally found their way to Kilrush after a cold and wet summer.

To make the courtyard more secure and to protect our lovely farm machinery from damage, we have built a little fence that now adds even more colour to the courtyard.

August 2008

A summer full of rain and wind and just a few sunny days is nearly over and now we hope for a mild and sunny autumn.

The Vandeleur Picture Exhibition has returned from the RDS Library in Dublin and we have put it into a mini museum to make it accessible for everyone visiting the Centre. Our collection of memorabilia is still tiny but it is a start and we hope for more people to come forward with their donations. Sharing history keeps it alive.

June 2008

We hope you enjoy your summer and look forward to meet you in the Vandeleur Walled Garden & Centre on a fine day. The courtyard landscape has been brightened up with some lawn areas that now provide a stark contrast to the old stone walls.

For our younger visitors we have created a butterfly trail around the garden.
